Savic Powers Ahead with C‑Series Alpha in Production and China Expansion

Savic C Series

Savic Motorcycles, the Melbourne‑based electric motorcycle manufacturer, has begun full production of its flagship C‑Series Alpha. The company delivered its first production bikes to customers in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane this week.

The C‑Series Alpha marks Australia’s first fully designed and produced electric motorcycle since car plant closures in 2017. Assembly occurs in West Melbourne using a mix of locally designed and imported parts. Alongside domestic roll‑out, Savic leased a 1,200 m² facility in Zhejiang province, near Shanghai. The new site will manufacture powertrain components including battery packs, electric motors, controllers and software systems. Financing for the project reached $1.83 million, including a $657,000 federal AMGC co‑investment and an additional $2 million from state and venture backers.

Design

Design inspiration came from the café‑racer style. Savic’s engineering team adopted gravity die‑cast aluminium rims and frames, using precision machining and laser welding for quality and durability. Savic offers three variants in its C‑Series line: Omega, Delta and Alpha. The Alpha is the performance flagship with 60 kW of power, 180 Nm of torque, and weights around 230 kg.

Savic’s engineering ethos reflects clear intent. “Powering riders, designing the future,” the company states, focusing on high‑performance EV motorcycles built in Australia.

Performance

It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and boasts a range of over 200 km—on par with liter‑class petrol superbikes. The mid‑range Delta model delivers 40 kW and 140 Nm, accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, and carries around 210 kg of weight. It can travel about 150 km on a single charge. Entry‑grade Omega offers 25 kW, 110 Nm and a city‑style range of about 120 km. It weighs approximately 190 kg and reaches 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Lean production and high quality are priorities. Chassis, rims and key parts are gravity die‑cast in aluminum, then finely finished with laser welding and precision machining.

Charging is simple and flexible. The bikes support standard household sockets, and Savic includes a 10‑amp cable. Fast‑charging stations are also compatible thanks to national infrastructure.

Savic integrated Bosch ABS and Brembo brakes, matching premium bike safety standards. High‑end components like Pirelli tyres and Wilbers or YSS suspension enhance ride quality.

Customer response is strong. Initial production runs sold out quickly, and over 100 orders have been received following national test‑rides.

Savic has grown from five to thirteen full‑time staff and around forty contractors. The company plans to scale up assembly to 5,000 bikes annually and explore export markets.

As Savic ramps up, it signals a revival in local manufacturing and a new era in electric two‑wheelers. With strong backing, quality components, and bold style, Savic looks ready to lead Australia’s EV revolution. Future models will include learner‑approved versions to expand appeal. All C‑Series bikes feature Tesla‑style online direct‑sales, over‑the‑air updates and telemetry.
