Triumph Thruxton 400 Cafe Racer Set for Indian Debut on August 6, 2025

Triumph Thruxton 400

Triumph Motorcycle India has confirmed that its eagerly awaited Thruxton 400cc café racer officially launches on August 6, 2025.

A New Chapter in Triumph’s 400cc Lineup

With this introduction, the Thruxton 400 becomes the fifth 400 cc model in Triumph’s Indian portfolio. It joins the Speed 400, Speed T4, Scrambler 400 X, and Scrambler 400 XC. The company dropped a teaser video featuring a cup of coffee with latte art shaped like a motorcycle. This poetic nod to its café racer heritage signaled the machine’s imminent arrival.

During a recent TV commercial shoot, the Thruxton 400 was spotted in plain view, free of camouflage. This suggested that production is now underway. The bike showcased a red-and-silver paint scheme with distinctive retro fairing and styling cues inspired by its larger sibling, the Thruxton 1200 RR. Enthusiasts valued this sighting as the clearest visual confirmation yet of the model’s readiness for market.

Engineering and Design: Classic Meets Modern

The Thruxton 400 borrows heavily from the Speed 400 platform. It gets the same 398 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, tuned to deliver around 40 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque. It retains shared components such as suspension, braking, and chassis architecture while introducing key alterations to suit café racer ergonomics. Most notably the USD front forks, clip‑on handlebars, and a sportier rear-seat cowl. Additional styling flourishes include bar-end mirrors, a sculpted fuel tank, round LED headlamp, and possibly a new tail-light layout.

Expect equipped features to mirror those of the Speed 400 range: a semi‑digital (analogue‑digital) instrument cluster, dual‑channel ABS, ride modes, traction control, and LED lighting throughout. Triumph is aiming to balance nostalgic styling with modern usability and rider safety systems.

Market Significance and Outlook

Though no official price has yet been announced. However, media estimates place the ex‑showroom price in the range of ₹2.50–2.70 lakh, depending on configuration and taxation. This would position the Thruxton 400 just above the Speed 400 but below the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, offering a compelling value proposition in the café racer category with no direct domestic rival.

With its blend of retro flair, modern technology, and an accessible price bracket, the Thruxton 400 is well‑placed to attract younger riders and design‑oriented enthusiasts seeking character and performance in a nimble 400 cc package. Its launch may well redefine expectations within India’s mid‑weight retro motorcycle niche, especially as Triumph continues to build momentum in the country.

Triumph’s café racer legacy returns to India with flair and strategy: August 6, 2025 will be the day the Thruxton 400 takes center stage, bridging classic style and contemporary performance in a highly competitive segment.
