Honda has unveiled its first electric café racer, the E-VO, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards electrification. Developed by Wuyang-Honda, a joint venture based in China, the E-VO seamlessly blends classic motorcycle aesthetics with modern electric technology.
The E-VO’s design pays homage to the classic café racer style, characterized by its minimalist and sporty appearance. Powering the E-VO is an 8kW electric motor available in two variants. The lighter model weighs 143 kg and achieves a top speed of 109 km/h. The heavier version weighs 156 kg and reaches up to 121 km/h. These performance metrics position the E-VO alongside traditional 125cc petrol motorcycles, making it suitable for both daily commuting and leisurely weekend rides.
Unlike many electric motorcycles that utilize hub-mounted motors, the E-VO features a chassis-mounted motor. This results in better weight distribution and improved handling. The bike comes equipped with an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock suspension, ensuring a smooth ride across various terrains. Additionally, the inclusion of disc brakes on both ends enhances braking performance, providing riders with confidence and control.
